Dedicated in 1910, the Pilgrim Monument commemorates the 1st landing of the Mayflower Pilgrims in the ‘new world’ in Provincetown in 1620 | Here they signed the Mayflower Compact, the 1st agreement to establish a government by the people, which became the cornerstone of American democracy | At 252 ft., the Monument is an engineering marvel and the tallest all-granite tower in the US | With 116 steps and 60 ramps, the Monument can be climbed at a leisurely pace for a breathtaking view of the town, the sea and the entire Cape | The Provincetown Museum at the base of the Monument presents engaging exhibitions of important chapters in our national cultural heritage and the town’s history.
